New SGA website features!

  • New calendar

    • We now have a unified calendar so you can see EVERYTHING happening on any given day.

    • Hopefully, this will avoid scheduling conflicts such as two interest groups holding meetings at the same time.

Take a look at the new calendar: http://sga.drexelmed.edu/Calendar/masterCalendar.asp It takes a little bit to load as it has to grab events from every calendar for the entire month. Please be patient.

    • Most interest groups are in the process of creating their calendars now. Therefore, only the IFM I calendar, IFM II calendar and a handful of interest group calendars are currently online. This should pick up soon.

    • If anyone wants to add events to the master calendar, please see http://sga.drexelmed.edu/Calendar/documentation.asp

  • Create a custom calendar

    • You probably don't need to use the master calendar too often. For one thing, it takes a long time to load, and it's pretty cluttered. So, you can create a custom calendar and only see the events you want to see!

    • Go to http://sga.drexelmed.edu/Calendar/secure/manageSubscriptions.asp and check the boxes for the calendars you want to see.

    • Anytime you want to see what's happening on a given day, go to http://sga.drexelmed.edu/Calendar/secure/customCalendar.asp

    • PLEASE NOTE: currently, if you subscribe more than 20 calendars for your custom calendar, you will get an error from Google when viewing the calendar. This is a bug on Google's side. I have a solution that I'm working to implement. I will have the fix in soon.

  • IFM I and IFM II Google calendars online

    • I have a piece of software that parses the IFM Year I and Year II monthly calendars on WebCampus and creates a Google calendar for each course. These calendars are now online.

    • If you have a GMail account or a GLink account, you can subscribe to these calendars through that accounts Calendar page:

      • Note: A GLink account is basically a GMail account from Drexel University. You can sign up for a GLink account at http://www.drexel.edu/irt/linkedu/

      • Log into your GMail/GLink account

      • Click 'Calendar' in the upper left

      • In the search box at the top of the page, enter “Drexel University College of Medicine IFM” and click “Search Public Calendars”

      • Click “Add to Calendar” for each course you want to see in your calendar

    • PLEASE NOTE: I only parse the WebCampus calendar at the beginning of the year. Any course changes made after that point will NOT be reflected in the Google calendars. You should ALWAYS refer to the WebCampus calendar for the definitive schedule. If you notice any mistakes, please contact me at sga.tech.officer.drexelmed@gmail.com and I will make any necessary changes.

    • I WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY MISTAKES ON THIS PAGE. If you can't agree to that, please don't use the calendars I created. Sorry, but that's the way it has to be. But, I also use these calendars, so I try to keep them as up-to-date as possible (well, at least the IFM II calendars. IFM I people will have to let me know when things change).

    • PIL I and PIL II: If anyone is interested in calendars for you courses, please let me know at sga.tech.officer.drexelmed@gmail.com and I will look into creating them. Your calendars work differently, and this would take some effort on my part. I'm really not showing favoritism here; I created the software that creates the calendar on my own last year, before I was your friendly SGA tech-geek.

  • New Discussion Forums online!

    • We now have our own discussion forums. Take a look at http://sga.drexelmed.edu/forum/

    • This is a site where we can post questions and discuss topics. Any topics are fair game.

    • You will have to register with the site before you can view and/or post to the forums.

    • Create a username for yourself, supply an email address and start posting. You can create any username and supply any email address you want. Feel free to discuss anything openly. Keep in mind that your drexel id is recorded each time you post to the forum, but your id is not be visible on the forums. So while your posts are anonymous to the public (except for your username and the email address you provide when you register for this site), they are not anonymous to me or to the College of Medicine administration.

    • I have created a few forums already. We have the following online now:

      • General Discussion - Anything you want to discuss pertaining to the DrexelMed community as a whole

      • Rides Board – Need a ride to Center City? Can you give someone a ride to the airport?

      • First Year Discussion – general discussion for Year I

      • Second Year Discussion – general discussion for Year II

      • Third Year Discussion – general discussion for Year III, including Rotation Site Reviews

      • Fourth Year Discussion – general discussion for Year IV, including Rotation Site Reviews

    • If you have any ideas for other forums, please let me know at sga.tech.officer.drexelmed@gmail.com. Keep it clean.

    • Please note: I hate to have to reiterate this, but keep in mind that your drexel id is logged each time you post something to the forums page. Again, keep it clean.

That's all for now. If anything here was confusing or didn't make any sense at all, please get in touch with me. Also, if you have any ideas for new features, let me know.

Thanks.
